Does anyone out there know of a free and easy pop up blocker I could install on my computer? For some reason lately, I’m getting pop-ups everywhere I turn these days when surfing the net and it’s driving me batty. Obviously I don’t want to just go downloading something to my computer that would be unsafe so…. thought I’d ask the masses.

What browser are you using? If you’re using Firefox (and you should be if you’re still running IE) it’s got a certain amount of pop-up blocking built in, and there are plug-ins to add even more.

Then the first thing I would do in your case is stop using IE. Go to getfirefox.com and download Firefox (it’s free, open-source) and give that a try. It is, in my opinion, superior to IE in nearly every way. Mind you, I’m using the new Google Chrome browser but it’s not really ready for prime time, still a little rough around the edges.
See if Firefox doesn’t cut down on your pop-up problem all by itself. And if you still need help, there are lots of add-ons for Firefox that will help with pop-ups (or anything else). It will import your IE settings if you tell it to, so you shouldn’t even lose your bookmarks in the deal.
